ABSTRACT How can an inclusive community be created that provides for the lower‐income populations migrating to China’s ever‐expanding cities? And how can traditional community relationships be nurtured in these settings? These are challenging questions that demand collaboration between designers, policymakers, developers and the general public. The Shenzhen‐based practice Urbanus has carried out extensive research in this field, leading to some promising solutions.
