ABSTRACT The article is based on the conversation with architect Mr. MENG Yan. It tries to discuss the thoughts behind the design for a minimal housing in the traditional downtown area of Guangzhou, and architect’s way of combining ideas, layouts, structures, lighting and ventilation commensurably in the vertical and horizontal lives.
