Wang Hui is invited by Center of Architecture Research and Design, UCAS, to give a series of lectures on Literature Reading on Spring Semester 2020. The aim of the course is to learn how to read a classic professional book – Pioneers of Modern Design by Nikolaus Pevsner. This book was written during the early Modernism. The author standed as an insider to methodize the trend of historical development, and tease out the standard of historical value. He made the theory not only being the summary of practice but also guidance. It is the key point to remember when reading this book. The method has a great value on observing and judging the development of contemporary architecture. Based on this book, Wang Hui will also talk about many related books.
